Best Christmas Movie Soundtracks

Everyone loves a good Christmas Movie, and of course the Christmas Movie Soundtracks that come along with them.

Without a doubt, my ultimate Christmas Movie soundtrack has to be Home Alone - every time I hear the intro to the film, and the start of Somewhere In My Memory - I start to get tingles of excitement - I freaking love Christmas!

On this page, I will be sharing with you some of my favourite Christmas movies and their music. So, not the films per se, but rather where to find the Soundtracks that go along with them. This means that whilst you are out and about, you can pop the tunes on your iPod, or in your car, and make sure that you get well and truly into the Christmas spirit, with all that fabulous Christmas music all around you.

I hope you enjoy my selections as much as I enjoyed reminiscing about my favourite soundtracks, to the my favourite Christmas movies.

Ok, I didn't start with Home Alone on purpose - but let me assure you, it is hands down, my most favourite Christmas film, as well as being my favourite Christmas Soundtrack - the Christmas music in this film is wonderful.

From the choral music in the church scenes, through to the musical arrangements by the legend, John Williams...the film has it all...but so does the music.

There is one particular song I adore, which "Somewhere in my Memory" - just saying that might not ring any (christmas) bells for you, but as soon as you hear the melody, you will know it instantly...and it will make you think of Christmas! I love it!

I really, really wish I could have seen this film as a child. The story telling, the animation, the action, and yes of course, the Christmassy music is simply enchanting!

With music by American Idol judge to the stars, Steven Tyler, as well as numbers by the ever popular Josh Grobin, this soundtrack is certainly a sure fire hit to have on at Christmas time.

Don't miss the songs with Tom Hanks, Perry Como or the ever wonderful, Frank Sinatra.

Isn't Dr Seuss just THE best storyteller? Add a splash of Christmas magic, a dash of Jim Carrey tom-foolery and before you know it you have a box office sensation of your hands.

The Grinch is one of those Christmas movies that shouldn't be good, but it is! I mean, it's about a green, hairy thing, that tries to destroy Christmas! What? But nevertheless - it makes for a great film, and the soundtrack is just as good. I don't listen to it, too often, I must admit, but I enjoy the times I do.

When I was little, I used to love watching Snoopy and the Charlie Brown gang. Now, I love a good Christmas Special, and this is one of them.

Filled with all our favourite Peanuts Characters and winter Christmassy warmth, this is a great feel good Christmas viewing, with an even better Christmas soundtrack.

For me, The Muppets Christmas Carol is synonymous with the very spirit of Christmas. It's one of those movies that is always on TV around the holidays, and before you it, you're singing along with the songs..."there goes Mister Humbug, there goes Mister Grimm, if they gave a prize for being mean, the winner would be him"...I love it! What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by having this music soundtrack playing in the background whilst you wrap up your Christmas gifts. Lovely.

What a classic! I used to watch this film when I was little, in fear that somehow I would get my tongue stuck on a frozen lamp post! Isn't that one of the most horrorfying moments in the film? Euuch!

Firstly, this soundtrack does NOT include any sort of main-stream Christmas music - no Frank or Bing here. Instead, the CD is made up of the orchestral music from the film, still including a wonderful Christmassy warmth.

So, if you're looking for a Christmas soundtrack, with more of a classical style, this is the one for you!

A modern take, on a classic story. Yes, you've guessed it, this film is jammed pack with dozens of Christmas classics.

The CD includes Christmas tunes such as Listen, Believing is Seeing, Comfort and Joy, and the outstanding track Bells of Christmas by Loreena McKennitt. Not forgetting Christmas Will Return sung by Brenda Russell and Howard Hewitt and written by Jimmy Webb!

A must for the Christmas CD collection.

Is this a Halloween film? Or a Christmas film? Good question! I think the latter...but ultimately, who cares because the music is so fantastic.

Penned by the amazing Danny Elfman (who wrote the Simpsons theme, as well as music from the film version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), this Christmas soundtrack is simply stunning.
