How to get an awesome Fraggles costume for Halloween

Updated on October 4, 2013

How amazing are these Fraggle Costumes for Halloween?

Did you know you could get Fraggles Costumes? I didn't! It's probably not very cool for a guy in his 30s to admit to loving the Fraggles, but I love these little guys!

Jim Henson was the genius behind the most wonderful TV creation of the 80s - The Fraggles. I had my very own little Fraggle stuffed toy (Gobo) when I was little and I took him everywhere with me...and now, what's even better...we can dress up as him for Halloween!

I was really excited when I found out you could buy, good quality, Fraggle costumes - the perfect dress up option for Halloween. The costumes resemble the original puppets very, very well!

So, without further ado, I present to you, a page dedicated to some beautiful Fraggle costumes that you are going love, and will look wonderful for your Halloween costume of choice this year!

When I think of the Fraggles, I think Gobo comes into my head first. He's like the main guy, although some might dispute that point entirely.

Gobo was always my favourite Fraggle, I love the colours he's made up, as well as his happy go lucky personality. This Gobo Costume will make all other costume wearers stop and stare, and wish they were a Fraggle too!

Not only would this outfit make an awesome costume, but it would also be fantastic as a mascot at a school football game. Most sports have mascots, right? Well, this chappy would be fantastic to help crowds cheer and get behind the favourite team!

Meet the Fraggles...

Such an awesome theme tune!

Wembley was the frisky Fraggle who tended to get himself into trouble. Again, one of the main characters, and friends with Gobo. He always seemed to be a bit hopeless, a bit misguided...but ultimately loveable.

This Wembley Costume shows him off to a tee! Famous for his loud shirts, here you can see one of his favourites! The yellows will compliment the general Halloween autumnal colour scheme beautifully!

Red was fiery and zesty. If you wanted an uplifting friend, and you had a choose a fraggle, you would probably choose Red. Red is cool.

This Red Costume captures here upbeat and enthusiastic personality really well, you can see from her massive smile. Like Wembley, Red has a lot of autumnal colours in her costume, which will fit in really well with most Halloween/October styles - wouldn't she look fabulous with a little doozer carved into a pumpkin?! (If you're not sure what a doozer is, you will by the time you've finished reading this page)

So, you've met the other 3 main Fraggle guys (Gobo, Wembley and Red) and now we have Mokey. Ahhh lovely Mokey. A bohemian at heart. I'm sure everybody has a Mokey somewhere in their friendship group, I know I certainly do.

This Mokey Costume portrays her whimsical nature with finesse. Ever the spiritualist, this costume is a bargain when you consider the whole look that you're getting. Not only that, but as a style the greys and purples looks fabulous together.

Why do I love the Fraggles so much?

It's an easy and difficult question to answer. I love the Fraggles, firstly because of how they look. Jim Henson is without a doubt one of the best puppet creators of all time - his creations are beautiful. They look friendly, comforting, and well made!

They hold a real childhood charm for me. They were always on TV. I used to love the fact that they are hidden underground, like secret creatures, that really could have existed (in my mind, anyway). I thought Sprocket, the dog, was really cute too, I wanted one! In fact, I wanted all the Fraggles.

I had a soft toy version of Gobo and took him everywhere with me. I was so proud to own a real Fraggle - my friends had Carebears and Wuzzles, but I couldn't imagine anything better than having my very own Fraggle!

Why Should You Watch Fraggle Rock?

If you're looking for a programme that will not only entertain, but educate your children, then try Fraggle Rock. The music is great, but most impressively, the puppets are super great!

Jim Henson is most famous for his work with the Muppets, so we know we're talking very high quality right from the start! The stories are fun and the characters are adorable.

Did you know there's also a cartoon? So, if you have children that might be a bit scared of puppets (which does happen, doesn't it?) there is a cartoon version, to help children deal with not-as-real characters. The cartoon is very good, but not as good as the live action recorded puppetry!

Filled with 80s nostalgia, I would recommend watching the Fraggles, down at Fraggle Rock, any day of the week!
