The Diamond Jubilee Concert 2012

Monday 4th June 2012, saw the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert, in front of Buckingham Palace.

It was like a who's who of International music celebrity. A stage was erected around the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace, allowing the nation's beloved stars to perform in celebration for the Queen's 60th Jubilee celebrations.

I was so excited - the concert spectacle of a lifetime was a moment to behold! Broadcast live on the BBC - the Diamond Jubilee Concert was watched and adored by millions!

The stars were out with full affect, when they who performed at 7:30pm, on Monday 4th June for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert. Artist's included Annie Lennox, Sir Elton John, Gary Barlow, Jessie, Kylie Minogue, Madness, Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Dame Shirley Bassey, Stevie Wonder and Sir Tom Jones to name a few!

Robbie Williams opened up the show with trumpeters and drummers from the 2nd battalion of the Coldstream Guards. The opening song was, of course, Let Me Entertain You

The Voice UK judges, Will.i.am and Jessie J sang a montage of I Gotta Feeling and This is Love. Jessie J, then went on to perform solo with Domino

4th Act on stage was JLS. They performed Everybody in Love, which blended beautifully into She Makes Me Wanna

Quite an odd mix was the next one. Gary Barlow, from Take That (and creator of the show, and the official Diamond Jubilee Song) performed with ex- XFactor Judge, and Girls Aloud member, Cheryl (she has now lost the Cole...I don't know where she lost it though). They didn't perform a mix of their songs either...more oddness...they opted to sing a Lady Antebellum track Need You Now. Don't get me wrong, it was good...just kinda weird.

The legendary Cliff Richard performed a medley of his hits, then a glorious rendition of Congratulations.

The Diamond Jubilee Concert took a classical turn with Lang Lang who performed the beautiful Hungarian Rhapsody / Rhapsody In Blue. What a pianist!

Alfie Boe took the stage, continuing the classic theme with a beautiful version of O Sole Mio / It's Now Or Never. He was followed swiftly by the fantastic Jools Holland (who I love watching on BBC2, such a wonderful musician...and his hootenanny is FAB) with glorious Ruby Turner, who performed You Are So Beautiful.

Then 12th celeb on stage, was the irrespressible Grace Jones - who quite frankly stole the show with an astounding performance of Slave to the Rhythm. If you haven't seen it, you must watch what she does with a hula hoop - jaw dropping, IMHO.

The ever popular Ed Sheeran had a task on his to take the stage from Grace Jones. He did great with his rendition of The A Team (just hope the Royals didn't realise he was singing about a crack addict).

The ever beautiful Annie Lennox was 14th artist on stage who gave us a version of There Must Be An Angel, complete with angel wings for her and all the band - it was very cute. After Annie, we had Renee Fleming (who, I personally had never heard of) who sang Un Bel Di Vedremo.

3rd The Voice UK judge to take the stage was the legend, Tom Jones, who sang Mama Told Me (Not To Come) and Delilah. LOVE him!

Fast on his heels, was Robbie again, who sang us one of his swing covers Mack the Knife. Fellow band mate Gary Barlow, came up next with the Commonwealth band including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gareth Malone and the Military Wives (as well as everyone who performed on the song, from all over the commonwealth were actually on the stage - let's count them as one act, shall we?) singing their song, of course, called Sing

Diva extraordinary Dame Shirley Bassey was the 18th act to take the stage, and what could be more appropriate for her to sing at the Diamond Jubilee concert, other than the classic Diamonds are Forever.

Kylie Minogue performed a medley of Spinning Around, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Step Back In Time and All The Lovers. She was joined on stage by Britain's Got Talent finalists, Flawless.

After Kylie, Alfie Boe and Renee Fleming, returned to sing Somewhere from one of the Palace's balconys.

Then back on main stage, Elton John performed I'm Still Standing, Your Song and Crocodile Rock.

After, we were treated to the BBC Concert Orchestra, who played to a film called Beautiful Day - made up of footage from the Queen's reign (footage of the coronation, weddings, past Jubilees etc) - it was lovely!

Taking the BBC as the 21st act, the then 22nd was something very special - Stevie Wonder, who performed: Sir Duke, Isn't She Lovely?, Happy Birthday(with will.i.am) and Superstition. The lyrics of Isn't She Lovely? were even changed to include "Elizabeth" awwww.

Obviously, the royal family was present (apart from the Duke of Edinburgh, who was taken to hospital with a bladder infection). Presenters included Rob Brydon (who managed to get #giverobbrydonaknighthood trending on Twitter), Miranda Hart, Lenny Henry, Lee Mack, Jimmy Carr, Peter Kaye and Rolf Harris.

Madness followed Stevie Wonder, who performed their hits from the roof of Buckingham Palace, with amazing and impressive films projected onto the palace itself, turning it into different types of houses...it was amazing! They performed: Our House and It Must Be Love. As Stevie Wonder did, they also changed the words in Our House, from "our street" to "one's street" hehe.

Paul McCartney took the hallowed spot of closing the show. Which was followed by a speech from Prince Charles who took the stage with the Queen herself.

For Paul McCartney's last number, the entire evening's acts went on stage to join in. His running order was: Magical Mystery Tour, All My Loving, Let It Be, Live and Let Die and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
